about me

DaniThe following is my presentation, but when I finished writing it, it had become a kind of a confession.
Imagine a little girl in Kindergarten, hair woven into two braids. This child, alone in the corner, away from her friends, head propped on her hands, sits plunged in her reveries, thinking. And, when not absorbed in her thoughts, she draws, with her crayons in both hands, enclosed in some world of her own, depicting, on the paper sheet, what dream is in her head. Back home in the evening, the little girl asks her Mom, daily, to buy her a drawing pad, crayons or colors, so she can draw. Thus, the years go by, the little girl grows up, becomes a big girl and somehow, her desire to draw moves to the back burner, under the pressures of daily life and the routine… and the lack of free time.
I was that child - Dani. At least that is how I see myself, going back in time. During my school years I was successful in all subjects. But, when all goes fine for you, it’s very hard to pick the right thing to do when one has grown up, to find the goal to pursue. I elected the easiest path, and, later found out, the most boring one (at least for me): economics. Graduated in economics with two majors: Banking and Information Systems. Unsuitable for me education and the wrong profession. I worked in the banking system about six years but was never content with my work. I liked working with the customers but always felt out of place. I couldn’t stand the glitz, the phoniness and apparent gloss of such an atmosphere. At a certain point, I could see myself busy with this monotonous, routine activity and, one day, I realized that I was stifling, that I cannot learn anything new and useful for myself. It took me a good while of wandering in order to decide what to do. I needed, in my professional occupation, to invest something of myself, a tiny part of me, that would not only be my duty, but that would bring me satisfaction and to allow me to accomplish it with ease and desire.
Ever since I remember myself, I loved drawing and to be creatively occupied. Thus, gradually, my need to return to drawing overcame but, now in the area of computer design. It is never too late, to accomplish something if you have the desire and the will. I quit my job and began to learn by myself from books and Internet lessons.
It’s been now over four years that I professionally practice Graphic and Web Design. I worked in a company for Nutritive Additions and Veterinary Products, where I created and prepared the labels. Later, as a Graphic Designer, I have been in charge of Publicity in various companies, a magazine for Real Estate Advertising, flyers, business cards, logos. A moment comes, when you want to showcase to the world what you have accomplished. So, the idea to learn how to make web sites came to me. I enjoyed to watch how with tags, scripts and css begin to appear on the monitor all that one has imagined before.
In my daily work I use the following software applications and languages: CorelDRAW, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Dreamweaver, XHTML, CSS, Javascript. I also have knowledge in PHP but am not a PHP Programmer. I can only read code and find my way around. The sites I create are very well optimized structurally, are Google friendly, with very good SEO optimization, good functionality, simplified and easy navigation, clean, easy to remember vision that presents the face of the advertised companies to their potential new clients.
Since the Summer of 2009 I deal with Adobe Flash. What naturally charmed me there, are the animations (see Flash Animation and Banners). I have selected and showed on my site many actual projects of various customers and have described the technologies used to accomplish them. You will find a button “Art Images” ( I decided to call it that), where I display photos of mine, and other images, mainly flowers, superimposed with applied filters and different ways of dissolves (Blending Mode), thus achieving something akin to collages. There are also computer pictures of mine created entirely with CorelDRAW and Adobe Photoshop. In time, I have developed my own style of painting. For example, with CorelDRAW I draw with ready figures that I convert into curves and then transform into the desired shapes. In Adobe Photoshop I paint with brushes and the tools Dodge and Burn. On the page Drawings, you will find hand-made graphics. Some are painted a long time ago since now I prefer to draw on the computer. As you will notice, many aren’t finished. There comes a point where I estimate that I have been exhausted and cannot continue.
My dream-come-true-occupation are both Graphic and Web Design and I wish to continue to work in. That allows me the opportunity to develop and display all my creative potential and manner of thinking. I have always believed that one day, I will return and be again the little girl with crayons in her hand.
